A Full Heart & A Wanting Mind…

I received a card last week from Will and Bailey Dungan.  It was with full eyes and and a full heart that I placed it on the table in the kitchen…… the first thing I would see when I walked in at night and the last thing I would see as I left each morning. An unneeded reminder of friendship at its purest, a life lived with no limits and hearts at their fullest.  But a full heart does not stop the wanting mind.  That traitorous mind that lives off of the what if’s and the what should have beens.  A wanting mind not satisfied with the memories and pictures held tightly to the heart.  A wanting mind that wants more…. more time, more memories…. just more.  An unquiet mind that spends nights trying to remember a first haircut, the first visit to the zoo, the feel of a two year old’s small hand in theirs, the look of excitement in big brown eyes after their first race ……  the last time you heard him laugh.

A wanting mind can make you forget to be grateful for the gift of time you were given.  It took a beautiful but simple card to remind me to be grateful that Christian lived, he loved and he left lasting friendships.  Friends who took one of the most important days of their lives and made him a part of it.  And in doing so made his memory matter again to a lot of people.  The donation given by Will and Bailey is greatly appreciated by Magnolia Son.  The card and thought behind the donation is even more appreciated by his mom.  🙂
