Staying in the Game

I received an email from my sister last week with the simple message “I think you will like this.  It’s a message by Hugh Freeze.”  I really wasn’t in a hurry to watch the video thinking Tracy just sent it to me because it was a speech by the Ole Miss coach.  🙂  Several days went by before I took the time to open the link she had provided.  32 minutes later I realized she was right…. it was something that I needed to hear.  Coach Freeze’s message was inspiring and seemed so relevant to me just as I am sure other people found the message.  I do not know what point my sister thought I needed to take away from the video and I never asked her but there was two points he made that really spoke to me….. make use of the platform you are given and “stay in the game”.

We all have our platforms whether they are acts of kindness such as the “Cookie Lady” at Ole Miss or national in scope such as the many inspiring coaches and athletes who influence millions.  Magnolia Son will never occupy a large platform but hopefully will make intentional use of the platform Christian has given us and make a small difference in young lives that may seem unimportant or superficial at the time but may resonate at a time when they need to know that someone cared.
